Bring your designer in early

Many decisions that feel like interior design are made during architecture and construction. Lighting plans and built-ins are a good example. They are settled early, and they shape how every room feels. When I join a project early, I work alongside your architect so each room is designed around the furniture and the life that will fill it.

Start with how you want to live

Before we talk about finishes, I ask my clients how they want their days to feel. Where do you drink your morning coffee? Where do the kids do homework? Where do you want to land at the end of the night? These answers guide every choice that follows.

Honor what you lost

Some families want their new home to feel like the one they lost. Others want a fresh start. Most land somewhere in between. I help my clients hold on to the details that mattered most and let go of what never quite worked.

Make selections in stages

A rebuild asks you to make a great many choices. Spreading them out makes the process lighter. We begin with the decisions your builder needs first. Furniture and styling come later, as construction comes to a close.

Plan for the in-between

Most families live somewhere else while they rebuild. If you are furnishing a rental now, choose pieces that can move into the new house with you. That way nothing you buy today goes to waste.
